Mt. Biking: Rutland water Wind Direction: Wind Stength: very light Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: cloudy then sunny Max Speed: 26 mph (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 25 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
I had bought a tushingham lightning 9.4 from someone at Rutland and with no
wind forecast for days and a couple of days off we decided to take the
bikes to Rutland for a few days and had a great time :) Thursday picked the
sail up and got caught out in a thunderstorm, getting soaked !!! Friday it
finally stops raining so after visiting Riks Windsurfing shop Mag and I
decide to go for the 25 mile Rutland curcuit, abit brave as we had never
been that far on bikes before !!! So we left our Sailing Club campsite
after dinner and set off to the church at Normanton in cloud :( by the time
we get to Sykes Lane the sun is out so the kagools come off and the rest of
the trip takes place in brilliant sunshine and next to no wind.Once past
Whitwell the people thin and we have the res. nearly to ourselves :) We do
the Hamleton peninsula then to Egleton bird watching centre for ice cream
!!! then back to the campsite after a epic 5 hour trip !!! sadley the
Rutland ospreys were as elusive as the basking sharks in Tiree !! We will
be back for a windsurf as it's only 2hrs from Felixstowe as some good speed
times have been posted here :)
